  1. I reported this bug awhile ago --> https://forum.playphoenix.ca/topic/578-quest-bug-eliminate-monsters-from-the-site/ Arnah responded to the thread and fixed the bug. However he only applied the patch to channel 1 apparently. Channel 2 and 3 were still bugged. You can get around this bug by simply changing channel to 2 or 3.
  2. Nice idea, but what you gonna do when Nexon lawyers send a cease & decist letter to you and your web host provider? But anyways I hope you succeed lol
  3. Characters level 8 - 29 are supposed to get the Mad bunny easter (Yellow) quest. However my level 20 noob is getting the GREEN quest. The green quest is supposed to be for level 30 and over chars. Edit: the "Golden Egg" option from Mad Bunny is bugged only in channel 1. Channel 2 and 3 seem to be working properly.
  4. No. I don't know where you heard that 1 weapon attack is equivalent to 10 magic attack. But that's simply wrong. MA is exactly the same thing as INT as far as damage calculation is concerned. Therefore giving a mage 200 magic attack is equivalent to giving a thief 200 LUK. Nexon typically doubles the amount of MA given, as compared to WA. For instance meditation skill gives 20MA, rage skill gives 10WA. So following this standard, leafre buff could reasonably be 40 MA. If you double that just to be generous to mages, it'd be 80 MA. 200 is just crazy talk.
  5. Yeah Carnival PQ exp is way too OP. It will kill Ludi PQ and no one will ever LPQ again if CPQ is released. CPQ is like THE ideal platform for afk mule leeching. If you're a big time multi-mule operator you couldn't ask for a better gift. At least with Ludi PQ and Kerning PQ, every character has to keep moving in order to go on to the next stage. You can't park afk mules from start to finish like you can in CPQ. IMHO it would be a grave mistake to add CPQ to this server. I like Noscible and KDOT's ideas, both. I think if you gave out Spiegleman's necklace for everyone who did 30 (or w/e) LPQ's, that would be great.
  6. So my earlier thread about this quest was closed and moved to "Resolved" section. Because the bug was fixed. However it looks like Arnah applied the fix to channel 1 only. Channel 2 and channel 3 are still bugged. I did this on another character, and I was getting the exact same bug. I was in channel 2. I changed to channel, 3, still bugged. Changed to channel 1, now it worked.
  7. yup it's working now, ty
  8. Does this work in Windows 7? Or is it only for Windows 10
  9. Presumably that girl who smega'ed about loving her BF, she didn't spam it 30 times in a row. Most likely it was that one smega, wouldn't you agree? Considering it cost money. Now take a look at that screenshot in the 1st post. Someone really did spam 30 messages in a row. Every single one of these smegas was completely devoid of any meaning, as you can see in the screenshot. It's just garbage. Whereas that GMS girl probably did love her BF, and expressing her love publically at least has some meaning. Do you see a difference here? That screenshot isn't the end by the way, the spam fest goes on for at least 20 more after that.
  10. Currently smega is dirt cheap to buy. Anyone can vote once a day and spam smega to their heart's content, as evidenced here: This is not GMS-like and it's not nostalgic. Not at all. In GMS you had to buy smega with real dollars or euros, so nobody ever spammed smega with meaningless garbage like they do here. In GMS when someone used an smega to congratulate you, it really meant something. You really appreciated your friend for spending the money to buy an smega just for you. Whereas here in Phoenix, smega means exactly zero, nothing. Because most of the smega is garbage. I strongly suggest you made smega purchase-able with donator points only. It would make the game more pleasant, more GMS-like, and help generate more revenue for the server which could be used to buy advertising or whatever.
  11. This guy is beyond harassment; what he's doing is basically extortion.
  12. Did you have another chocolate basket in your inventory? It's a one-of-a-kind item, so if there's one e in your inventory already then you can't get another one. Now it would be nice if the NPC told you that you already have one in your inventory, but I think it just tells you the generic "full inv" message.
  13. That seems like the answer and the solution to this thread. Not sure why you're so careful to not offend the mule owner. Does the mule owner have the right own the MM map? Or is the map FFA? Only one of those two are correct. Just grow a pair and kill the MM. If drama arises because the mule owner honestly believes that he is entitled to own the MM map by parking a mule there, go ahead and record the encounter on video and then submit it to Arnah for review. He will either say you're right or the mule owner is right.
  14. Mostly, yeah... however there were some gacha items that were very helpful that came out early (I think early 2007), like brown bandana. +5 to 7 free accuracy is a huge deal to warriors. Just to simplify my previous wall of text: Buff mules do not reduce the playerbase. If that were the case, the R-server would have 50 players online. In reality they have 2500 players online right now, I just checked. I'm not in favor of buff mules, I would probably be happier if buff mules disappeared. But that has nothing to do with this server having few players. It's a completely different topic. Also all the complaints about game balance and the tweaks and changes that the OP wants... they may be valid and perfectly good suggestions. However none of that has anything to do with the server's low population. You guys are lumping together two different topics into one. The popular servers with thousands of players have even bigger game balance issues and problems. It's not reducing their playerbase. So please, keep the game balance issue and the low playerbase issue separate.
  15. Different strokes for different folks. Maybe for you "Vanilla Maplestory" is boring and lame. For me it's appealing, because I play for nostalgic reasons. Playing pre-BB maplestory is like comfort food for me. I'm not looking for exciting new custom content or meta-changing game tweaks, I'm looking to relive my childhood. Obviously there will be people who think like you, and then there will be others who think like me. I'm not necessarily disagreeing with any particular game tweak or custom content suggestions you made. Some of them are probably worthy and needed. What I'm disagreeing with is your assertion that vanilla maple turns people off and is a major reason why this server has problem attracting new players. That's completely wrong. The #1 and #2 servers are basically nostalgia servers with minimal changes from vanilla. They have thousands of people online right now. Biggest reason I see for this server's low population is that it's freaking hard. It's harder to level here than GMS back in 2008. It's actually even worse than a pure 1x clone of GMS, because our equipment is worse here than GMS of the same version (no equip that comes out of gacha, no dark scrolls, etc). And in GMS people used to buy 2x exp coupons. It was not rare at all, me and my friends used to get 2x coupons all the time. And of course the GM would hold 2x events regularly. I don't think anything can be done about this, Arnah seems dead set on creating a hardcore, hard-to-level server with crappy equip. So as far as that's concerned, it's not gonna change. What *CAN* be done to attract more players is advertising. Paid advertising works. Google is worth a trillion dollars because of this fact. I've seen private servers zoom up in GTOP rankings and attract hundreds of new players because the server owner strategically placed paid ads. I wouldn't mind if Arnah created more donator perks to get more people to donate, if he uses that money to buy advertising for the server. Everyone loves chairs, I wouldn't mind paying US Dollars to get some cool chairs that I used to have in GMS back in the day. If pay-to-win is a big concern, you could make the chairs untradeable. These are the 2 chairs that I used to have that I remember the most. Palm Tree chair was a reward anyone could get by doing Ariant PQ. The Maple Tree chair I don't remember how I got it.
  16. If your goal is to balance the classses as evenly as possible so that every class does the same amount of DPS to all bosses, then yes I agree. If your goal is to simply atttract more new players, then no. Nerfing sins might make people happy who dislike that class and weren't gonna play that class. But it will turn off people who wanted to play sins and those people will simply leave. Buffing up the weak classes is always better than nerfing the strong classes, as far as keeping the player base happy. Another thing is that whatever one person thinks is a good and useful change from vanilla GMS maplestory, will piss off another person for ruining their nostalgia because things are diffferent than what they remember from their childhood. So anything you do to make the game different could potentially make some people happier but piss off some other people. Therefore my advice would be to change as little as possbile, keep everything as pure GMS as you can and only make changes when absolutely neccessary. With that said, since this is a 3rd job only server and there will never be a 4th job, I do believe that giving extra buff to bowmen/xbow is absolutely needed. There is zero reason to play bowmen in this server, sins are just better in every single possible category. There is no Sharp Eyes to look forward to either, nothing. I'm saying this even though I do not play bowmen and I'm not gonna make a bowman in the future. I'm not for or against buff mules, I can see valid argument for both sides. What I wanna say is that buff mules have zero effect on attracting players. OP is simply wrong to think the existence of buff mules in Phoenix is reducing the playerbase. Just look at the #1 and #2 maple servers, they both get about 500 - 1,000 players online at any given time. They both allow buff mules. Obviously it's not hurting their popularity. The buff mule issue is a completely separate topic and should be discussed on its on merit, not lumped together wth the "let's attract new players' discussion. I'm not trying to diss the OP in any way, I sympathize and I agree with him that we need to do something to attract new players. But IMHO tweaking various little things in the game have little to no effect on attracting new players. The really BIG things that attract people, in my opinion, are: #1 New server/wipe. This always attracts certain people who are looking to get in but don't wanna compete with older established players who have been playing for 2 years and have 20billion mesos and godly items and high level chars. Also there's just the sheer joy of going into a brand new world and starting fresh, competing with other new people to see who can be the most pro starting from scratch. #2 ADVERTISING. Spending real dollars/Euros. There's a reason Google is worth 1 trillion dollars... advertising works. The current #2 server (name starts with L) was actually doing very poorly 1 - 2 years after it opened, only getting like 50-100 players. Then the server owner strategically placed paid ads in various places. One particular ad campaign paid off spectacularly, not sure exactly how it happened but he/she put an ad on a Taiwan game site and it brought in a large number of Taiwanese players. After that the online numbers went from 50-100 to over 200 regularly. And they zoomed up in GTOP. Both factors attracted even more players and eventually they went to 1,000 players and briefly held the #1 crown. Personally I wouldn't mind if Arnah opened up the donation perks a bit more so that more people are encouraged to donate $, if he uses that money to adversise the server. It doesn't mean let's turn this into a P2win server, you can add lots more stuff to donator rewards that don't affect how stronk your character is. For instance Smega. Currently it's super cheap, you can vote once a day and pretty much smega to your heart's content. But keep in mind in GMS you could not smega unless you spent real $. So you had to think real hard before you bit the bullet and used an smega. Unlike how it is here currently, morons spamming useless smega with literal meaningless garage text "aaa bbb". So..... maybe jack up the price of smega to 400 NX each (exactly what you get per 1 day of voting). And of course you can gain additional NX by donating. Also maybe more unique NX items and/or chairs you can get by donating. Chairs are great, everyone love them but they actually have zero affect on gameplay or how stronk your char is.

    Smega Blocker

Ok I think the original thread starter (Quit) is no longer active in this server so I'm giving up on asking for a transparent background. However I did follow his instructions and managed to do the same thing he did, but with a BLACK background. Much better IMO. I have included a link to the UI.wz file below if anyone wants to use it. (reason I didn't use the forum attachment is that it's not letting me upload anything over 9.77 MB, and the new UI.wz file is slightly larger than that) Basically it's the exact same thing that the thread starter posted, but with a solid black background instead of white. Also it's using the latest WZ file (Jan 2021) instead of his older version which might cause problems. Link to the UI.wz file
  18. This is the quest that comes after Shawn the Excavator's Request. After you kill all the monsters and you click on Winston, nothing happens. He doesn't give you ther rewards.
  19. okay I guess I was just on a super unlucky streak. TY
  20. This quest asks you to get 20 plant samples, which you get by hitting plants (box like things) in the maps north of Ellinia. I hit over a hundred plants and no plant samples came out. If memory serves, this is not a rare drop. Something like 25% to 50% of the time a plant sample is supposed to drop.

    Smega Blocker

Hi, I like your idea but I was hoping if you (or someone else) could make a version with a transparent background. Currently when people go on a smega spamming spree, I see a solid pink wall blocking the bottom of my screen. With this mod, I would be seeing a solid white wall blocking the same area. Better than before, but not ideal. Is there any way to just get rid of the pink background? I don't mind seeing the purple text of the smega, just get rid of the pink so that smega looks just like guild chat (which has a transparent background)
  22. Is this because cold beam is useless in 3rd job? If you're a high level (like 100) ice mage, you never use cold beam? Just curious
  23. I have a suggestion. How about giving out full exp for healing ONE person? (not counting the priest himself of course) So like, when you cast heal and you heal a party member, you get full exp. Then any additional party members that received heal during that spell casting, do not give contribute exp to the priest. I think there are very few situations where during normal training a priest gets to heal bunch of other party members at the same time. For instance let's say there's a party grinding at Grim Phantoms, 4 attackers and 1 priest. Normally you would see the priest running around the map giving HS and heal to everyone. You would not see all 4 attackers in the same spot. Unless of course the priest is lazy and the party members are so desperate for HS that they tolerate a priest who just stands in one spot doing nothing, and everyone else comes to the priest every 3 minutes for HS. But in this case, the priest is a D-bag and does not deserve heal exp anyways. Another common situation is a priest following a DK around at Himes and giving heal. This kind of a priest would stand to benefit quite a bit, as compared to the current zero heal exp.
  24. Does it only give out 1 elixir per PQ? Is that why you exit out immediately after getting 1 elixir from the nearest room?
  25. Right, but in this case you're supposed to only get exp for the damage that you caused. Not gain any leech exp from party members. Like, if a level 60 cleric deals 1 heal damage to bone fish, and someone else in his party kills that bone fish, the cleric is only supposed to get 1 exp from the 1 damage he caused. Not gain 600 exp (or whatever) that he would get if he were within leeching level range. So again, I'm still puzzled at how clerics are able to leech bone fish.
