  1. [Jan 2022 update] - This guide was quite old, from a pre-Zipangu update. With the addition of Mushroom Shrine, Mu Lung, Herb Town, Ariant, Showa, New Leaf City, Leafre, and revamped Vic-Island and various Ossyria maps, I have added extra options to share what I know about these new maps. If I forgot or missed any, please let me know. They are usually much better than the old options. Their text will be the same color as this text. Recommended training spots on Phoenix for leveling and their brief explanations. These spots have become the most popular on Phoenix, original GMS, and many other servers over the years due to their efficiency in experience rate, potion usage, meso gain, and consistency. I assume you are building your character properly and will be able to handle these maps well. If you're not sure how to build your character, look up skill guides for your character. If you're hunting for a specific item, and you know you can handle the mobs that drop it, the exp should be just fine in those maps. I will not include specific elemental weakness mobs, for wizard and cleric training spots. Sorry mages. From lvl 10-30, you generally want to stick to mobs that you can kill in one skill use. The goal is to hunt mobs that give the most amount of exp per skill usage, to get the most out of your MP and potions, so that you sustain meso, or at least come close. ========================= Lvl 1~8/10 Stay on Maple Island until you are ready for 1st job. I hope you know what you are doing on Maple Island. Finishing your beginner levels on Victoria is a pain in the butt. If I'm making a mage or thief, I like to stay at the first green snail map right after the tutorial, all the way to lvl 6/7 for mage, and lvl 8/9 for thief, then go to Amherst for the town quests, then to Vic. Talk to Olaf in Lith, and go get your 1st job. ========================= Lvl 10 ~ Slimes Ellinia Tree dungeon (South I) . There are many more slime maps but I like this one because it is easy to get to, and it being a vertical map means your noobie movement speed and range don't matter as much. You can stay here until you know you can kill Pigs and Ribbon Pigs, or OCTOPUS in one attack. =========================== Lvl 15 ~ Pig / Ribbon Pig / Octopus Pig Beach or the Henesys Pig map. There aren't many maps that have only Pigs or Orange Mushrooms, which are usually the best mobs for this level range. If you accidentally hit the Iron Hog at Pig Beach, just change channel or enter cash shop. You can also just stay at Slimes all the way to lvl 20 if you want. Some people like Mushroom Garden, but I have personally never trained here. NEW - Octopus - [Caution Falling Down] Very easy 2-platform map with Octopus and Blue Mushrooms. You get to it by going left from Kerning City. Hopefully the Blue Mushrooms aren't too hard for your character. If this map is too hard for your class, stick to pigs and orange mushrooms for now. =================================================== Lvl 20 ~ Green Mushroom / Bubbling / KPQ (Lvl 21) / Octopus / Desert Rabbits Green Mushroom - For Green Mushrooms, try Ellinia Tree dungeons (South II) (South III) (North VI). I usually just go to the South III one because it is easy to walk to. You can also just go straight to one of the tree dungeons that have Horny Mushrooms in them (if you can handle them). Bubbling - Either the first Kerning Subway map, or the map at the end of Shumi's first jump quest, "B1". These maps have really good spawn, but Bubblings have pretty high weapon defense and magic defense for this level range (40 w.def and 50 m.def), which will reduce your base range by about 20 weapon damage. If your minimum damage range is less than 20 or so, you will hit single-digit damages a lot of the time. If you are using Lucky 7 or are a mage, this shouldn't be a problem. Bubblings are conveniently close to KPQ. Octopus - [Caution Falling Down] Explained earlier. NEW - Desert Rabbits - Right outside Ariant, you'll find the Desert Rabbit maps. They are simple, flat maps, filled with easy-to-kill mobs. Downside is that they're in Ariant (Apparently there's a quest from Manji that warps you to Ariant as long as you're below lvl 29? Thanks NixMar). The rabbits have 350 and 400 HP, but the maps are so efficient that it's probably worth coming here if you want to have minimal movement while training. ================================================================ Lvl 25 ~ Horny Mushroom (tree dungeons or ant tunnel I) / Stirges / KPQ / Desert Rabbits Horny Mushroom - Some nice Horny Mushroom tree dungeons include: South IV, North II, etc. There are more but just pick whichever you like. If you're confident enough, you can just go straight to Ant Tunnel I. Just keep in mind, you still want to train on mobs that you kill in one attack, and you most likely won't be able to kill a Zombie Mushroom consistently in one attack, but it doesn't matter as much here. Stirge - For throwing star users and mages, I recommend trying Subway Transfer Area. Stirges have 300 hp and give 33 exp, basically the same as a Horny Mushroom, but I like the spawn and layout of the Stirge map for assassins and mages. You can just sit near the middle of the top and bottom areas and shoot everything around you. You just have to switch from the top area and the bottom area once in a while, if you are solo. They drop a lot of potions, and are conveniently close to KPQ. Desert Rabbits - If you're already in Ariant, you can just stay here 'til you need to get 2nd job. There's some NPC guy on a flying carpet a few maps right of Ariant, who warps you back to Vic. There are more decent Ariant maps, but the Desert Rabbit map is the only useful map that I know of, as the old options for this level range were kinda janky if you weren't a thief or mage. The maps in Ariant are small and flat with slow-moving mobs, making these maps worth trying out, even after level 30. ==================================================================== Lvl 30s ~ Ant Tunnel I / Teddies / Ratz / Black Ratz / CPQ/LPQ / Monkey Forest II? (Explained in lvl40 section) Here is the starting level range where it's ok to 2-3 hit mobs, as higher lvl mobs drop much more mesos and higher lvl items which sell to NPCs for much more than sub-lvl30 items. If you still want to 1-hit mobs, stay at Ant Tunnel I for a while and party with people. Wild Boars are also a solid choice if you want to stay on Victoria Island for questing or something. Teddies - Good maps for Brown Teddy and Pink Teddy are Terrace Hall and Sky Terrace <1>. I personally prefer the Sky Terrace map, as it feels more compact and consistent. You should be able to kill these in 2-3 attacks, but ideally you want to kill them in 2 most of the time. Ratz - [Eos Tower 100th Floor] - Compact map, with easy mobs and great spawn rates. Especially good for warriors. Black Ratz - One of the most popular maps on the server is Eos Tower 94th Floor, due to the spawn behavior in the middle area of the map, where you don't have to move much and can just keep killing in the middle platform area. This map has mostly Black Ratz and a few Trixters. Trixters are on-par with Zombie Mushrooms in terms of HP and exp. LPQ at lvl 35 is also a nice option if you don't want to grind, and also a good reason to stay at Ludi once you're lvl 35. Monster Carnival PQ - On Phoenix, people sometimes form CPQ groups, where you just get the bare minimum score inside, then afk for the rest of the time limit. It is nerfed for Phoenix, where mobs inside do not give exp. Try it out if you're really lazy for exp. You can try other maps depending on your class, just keep in mind that you probably want to be killing mobs that have around 500-1200 HP. ===================================================================== Lvl 40s ~ LPQ / Monkey Forest II / Master Chronos / Lantern Ghost / Leprechaun $$$ / STDs By now, you should be able to 1-shot Black Ratz easily, unless you are a mage. Even without 1-shotting, Eos 94th floor is still arguably the best map. Retz - If you are still 2-shotting Black Ratz, try the Retz map, Helios 99th Floor. If you can 2-shot Retz, train here. If you can 1-shot Black Ratz, train there until you can 1-shot Retz. Retz have 1400 HP vs Black Ratz' 1150 HP, and also have more defense. The spawn behavior in this map is similar to Eos 94, where you can mostly just sit in the middle and keep killing, but you do have to kill the other mobs in the map occasionally. Even fire and lightning mages train here often. This map is also closer to town for convenience. Some classes can just stay here to mid lvl 60s I have heard good things about Eos 8th Floor, which contains Block Golem and King Block Golem, with similar spawn behavior for minimal movement. I have never trained there because it feels too far away from town and LPQ. Warriors love this map apparently. There are many options for this level range, but you generally want to be killing mobs that have around 1000-2500 HP. If you are a warrior, you don't have many good options unfortunately... maybe just stick to the Eos tower maps above. NEW - [Monkey Forest II] (MF2) - This map is notoriously good for a lot of classes. It contains a ton of Lupin and Zombie Lupin. Ranged classes can just stand on the left and shoot the mobs. Ice/Lightning mages, Bandits, and even warriors (if you have enough accuracy), can kill by being in the middle of the platforms. There are teleporters to bring you up to the top fast. Downside is that you have to kill the bottom floor once in a while. Thieves and Bowmen can come here earlier. Ice/Lightning mages will love this map. NEW - Master Chronos - [Path of time 4] - Map layout itself is kind of ass, but it has very high mob-density, and on Phoenix, they drop Helm DEX 60% scrolls (VERY VALUABLE). They also drop Tobis. The Platoon Chronos map [Path of Time 1] is also decent, if you want to find Glove ATK 60% scrolls. Maybe I should've put this in the lvl 50 section, as Master Chronos might be too tough for a lvl 4X character... their magic attack is annoying. NEW - Lantern Ghost / Dark Cloud Fox - [Night in the Forest] - Long, flat map. Not the greatest, but I think it deserves to be mentioned, as it is a new interesting option. It's kind of annoying how there's nowhere to afk in the map or any adjacent maps. The etc drops can be exchanged in Showa for some extra goodies. NEW - Leprechaun (NERFED?) - Namely, Creeping Evil map outside New Leaf City, in Phantom Forest. Tricky and dangerous to get to, as you might have to pass by very strong monsters. Look up a guide on how to traverse Phantom Forest to get to the map. Once you get here however, you just kill mobs that stand still and don't attack, and always spawn in the same spots... You can't get an easier map than this, and any job can hunt here. They are not the best for exp, but certainly the best for making Mesos (not only do they drop a lot of raw mesos, they can drop Steelies and other rare high-level equips). Hopefully someone has killed the Headless Horseman in the map ;). If you still want to hunt Leps but don't want to deal with getting to Creeping Evil, I have heard that Swamp Bog and maybe Bent Tree work, but they are not worth training in, imo. NEW - Straw Target Dummy (STDs) - Go to the first map to the right of Mu Lung, and you will find a small, flat map with these easy-to-kill mobs, for good exp. ============================================================================================= Lvl 50s ~ MF2 / Straw Target Dummy / Jr. Yeti / Hector / Book Ghosts / Grizzly / Forest of Golem / Lvl 40s areas Flyeye - means the map right before Pianus. I'd recommend only trying out this map if you are a ranged class or bandit, can consistently kill these in 1 attack, and know what you're doing to get to this map safely. Flyeyes have 1600 HP and give 95 exp, amazing ratio. Flyeyes have high avoidability, which is bad for warriors, and as their name implies, they are a flying mob which might be extra annoying for bowmen. In this map, you typically just stand on the ledge on the right side of the map and let the mobs come to you to their death. Monkey Forest II is most likely better, explained earlier. Zombie Lupins - these also have one of the best HP/exp ratios in the game, with 1800 HP for 90 exp per kill. A popular map for these mobs is Monkey Forest Tree Dungeon I. They also contain Curse Eyes, which means you can simultaneously work on the "Kill 999 Curse Eye" daily quest. Monkey Forest II is better, explained earlier. NEW - Straw Target Dummy (STDs) - Go to the first map to the right of Mu Lung, and you will find a small, flat map with these easy-to-kill mobs, for good exp. Jr. Yeti - Jr. Yetis have one of the worst HP/exp ratios in the game for this level range, with 3700 HP and 135 exp. Despite this, Icy Path I still nets decent exp for many classes and they have a chance at dropping Glove Attack 60% scrolls. The map has good spawn and layout. Just be careful of the rare transforming Yeti ; ) Hector - If you want to try Hectors, you can try Icy Path II, which has both Jr. Yetis and Hectors, or Cold Field I, which has only Hectors and a tiny bit of White Fangs. Cold Field has a really bad layout, but the main reason to actually grind here is for the drops. Hectors themselves can drop Cape DEX 60%, and exchanging their tails in Orbis has a chance to give you Overall DEX 10% scrolls, both of which are highly desired on every non-mage class on the server. Don't expect amazing exp here. NEW - Cold Field II - Contains Hectors and White Fangs.. a lot of them. There was some update on Phoenix that made this map have a ton of mobs. Maybe give it a try. NEW - Foggy Forest - Contains Book Ghosts and a bit of Reindeer. Map layout is alright and exp gains are ok. Like the Master Chronos map, the main reason to come here is because, on Phoenix, Book Ghosts drop Earring DEX 60% scrolls (VERY VALUABLE), and Reindeer mobs can drop Glove ATK 60% scrolls. The Book Ghosts don't have a magic attack and move slow, making them nice and easy for melee jobs. NEW - Grizzly bears - Very unique map layout with great mob density. A lot of jobs can kill the bears from the safe platforms, and the bears can't hit you back with their special melee attack. You can also easily jump on the platforms with some jump/haste. I trained here as Ice/Lightning mage, and then as Assassin, and it felt very good. Gunslingers can invis shot the bears from safety as well. Try this map out and see how it feels for your job. Forest of Golem - Starting at lvl 54, you can get party exp at Forest of Golem's Mixed Golems. In my opinion, it is sub-optimal to come here before you are around lvl 60, as Mixed Golems have 6000 HP, but many warriors come here this early and do just fine. Expect a lot of pot-burn if you come here early. You might make up for it with some lucky drops, as mobs in FoG can drop Glove Attack 60% and Tobi throwing stars, which sell really well, as well as some equips that sell to NPC for over 100k. Master Chronos and Monkey Forest II are still okay for this level range. ================================================================================================ Lvl 60s ~ Forest of Golem / Coolie Zombies / Panda / Lvl 50s areas FoG - By now, you should be able to 3-4hit Mixed Golems, or if you are really strong and depending on your class, 2hit them. You can basically stay here all the way to your lvl 80s or 90s, so get comfy. Coolie Zombies - Alternatively, you can always train at good ol' Coolies. Zombie maps are a loooong walk away from town. NEW - Pandas [Territory of Wandering Bear] - On Phoenix, this map is filled with Panda mobs. Map is fairly small and easy, with 2 main floors. They can drop Steely stars. Only reason I found out about this map is because I was training at the Grizzly map, and kept seeing Assassins heading to this Panda map. Lvl 50 areas are still good for this level range. Monsters from lvl 60-75 have horrible exp/hp ratios, so they're generally not worth training on for good exp. Most people just train at lvl 50-60 areas all the way to lvl 80 =============================================================================== Lvl 70s and beyond ~ Lvl 50-60s areas / Windraider / Pirate Den 2 / Leafre The fun now is finding what works best for your job. Here are some recent additions to consider while you're in the lvl 70 or 80 range: NEW - Windraiders [Lower Ascent] - I highly encourage anyone to learn how to get to this map, and learn how to use this map well. These mobs are broken for exp. If your job and gear are very strong, you can come here earlier, as the mobs themselves aren't very dangerous if you attack from range. What I do to train in this map: teleport up to the top with the teleporter (the statue at the bottom Windraider platform), and kill the packs while going down the map. Kill Windraider pack on the left side, teleport up, kill Windraider packs on the right side (the small platforms), teleport up, repeat. You can train here until you're ready to go to Deep Ludi, Leafre, Gobies, or whatever else you want to try for your job. NEW - [Pirate Den 2] - I should mention this map, as it was extremely popular back in GMS, and a lot of other servers, with the addition of Herb Town. It has a ton of mobs and the map is very compact. A lot of 3rd jobs can hit both platforms at once, making it very braindead to train in. It contains mobs Kru and Captain. They have trash exp/hp ratios, but the map is so easy to use that people still come here. NEW - Leafre - a big reason to train in Leafre on Phoenix is for the "Rock buff", a GM blessing buff from the big rock at the top in Dragon Forest II, Giving you 20 ATK, 50 M.ATK, and a lot of other good stats for 1 hour, but it only works while in the Leafre region (ask around exactly how it works). The most noteable early maps in Leafre in my experience, are the Kentaurus maps, and Birks (Dual Birks drop Ilbis). Give these a try once you are lvl 80+ or 90+. A lot of them have elemental weaknesses.

  3. arnoo, We should have a 48-hour period of double experience from mobs only. The Anniversary event coming up would be a great opportunity as old players return to farm Maple Weapons for themselves and the new players that a 2x event would bring to the server. pls n ty, peenix

  4. With the new addition of the monster kill tracker using "@stats" I think now is a more perfect time then ever to begin implementing a monster book. Integrating the kill counter in the book would be a really nice touch as using the "@stats" command can be clunky if you don't remember the exact name of the mob, or the monster's ID. Along with the kill tracker, adding proper mob drop rates into the monster book would be a great way to get accurate information. This is especially important for phoenix as some mob drop rates have been changed from the standard GMS/BMS rates. Finally, the rankings could also be updated to show a players monster book total.

  5. Goal: The goal of Phoenix is to provide a challenging server with new content constantly releasing. By following the timeline of GMS from the past, Phoenix is able to consistently give something new to expect with future patches, while also providing the long grinds due to 1x rates. 7. It's well known that hermit's completely outshine archers in terms of damage, and utility. I think a good way to reduce the gap between hermits and archers damage would be to increase the crit percentage for archers. As it stands right now, archers have a 40% crit chance, while hermits have a 50% crit chance. Making archers crit 50%, or even 60%, would allow for more consistent damage for archers. This change could be implemented in either the original crit skill in archer's 1st job. Or as a separate passive in archer's 2nd or 3rd job. However I think the best way to handle it would simply be changing the values of the original crit skill. 4th job made major strides to reduce the disparity between hermits and archers damage, so without these changes archers are objectively worse then hermits in nearly every aspect. Making this change to archers crit chance will allow them to be more viable option for parties, and bossing. EDIT: After more consideration, and discussion the real issue isn't archers damage, it is the rangers DPS against both hermits and snipers. A smart way to buff ranger DPS without changing any skills would be to increase the attack speed of the Metus, Nisrock, and Dragon Shiner and possibly even the Arund and the Hinkel, to be equivalent to the Blue Metus. This would allow rangers to shoot strafe faster, and be on-par with at least the DPS of snipers. EDIT 2: With the addition of the Crimson Arclancer in the game, I no longer see a need to increase the attack speed of other bows. Boosting archers crit rate to 50% would be the best option if an archer buff were to happen in my opinion.

  9. The Ludibrium cape is level 100 and requires quite a lot of effort to get. It's unfortunate how useless the cape is though, as it offers nothing of value. I'd like to propose changes that make the Ludibrium cape actually be useful. Currently, you only get one single Ludi cape. You have one chance of scrolling it and that's it. If you fuck up scrolling it, then you're shit outta luck. Not only that, but it requires you kill Papulatus which is a challenge in itself. My suggestion is to make the quest repeatable and give the Ludi cape a random 0-2 random single stat roll (STR, DEX, INT, or LUK), but keep it untradeable as it currently is. On top of that, make it a one-of-a-kind so players can't just stack these capes to mass scroll them. This would give Papulatus a bit more purpose, but most importantly you make a level 100 cape potentially stronger than the Icarus capes, which only makes sense. Higher level item = better stats. I personally see the Ludi cape as a boss item equivalent to a Zakum helm. It'd be cool to have all real bosses (not mini-bosses) matter in some ways.

  10. Hi guys, So the Christmas event is here and everyone doesn't know what the fuck to do anymore so I'm here to tell you. First, you need to find: this bitch and give her what she wants. (slime and branches if you're in Ellinia, fish and furballs if you're in ElNath.) Quests in Happyville: Graham Cracked (repeatable) This guy wants you to bring him 50 Graham Crackers to feed his addiction, or something. Graham Crackers can be found from every mob regardless of level. Rewards 2 Banana Graham Pies: (good for mages) Maple Claws This cat wants you to spread Christmas cheer and deliver lost presents to some people. Presents exchange (repeatable) You will need to kill monsters to get presents for your level range. (not sure about this) 10-20 needs Red + Green presents 21-30 needs Red + White presents 31-40 needs Red + Blue presents 41-60 needs White + Blue presents 61+ needs Green + White presents Requires at least 10 Presents for a gift, with a max of 100 for the better ones. Lost Presents (repeatable) Lost presents, the second option from Maple Claws requires you to travel all around Victoria Island and Ossyria to deliver presents to people. When you successfully deliver the present and come back to Maple Claws, you will get a present! You need to trade it to someone for it to be opened, like real gifts! (You can't open them yourself) Gifts contain random shit Torr's Horn (repeatable daily) Torr needs your help to find his horn. You can get his quest by choosing these options: 1) 2) 3) The horn will be in the cash shop, it can be under any tab, check every tab to check if it's there. (usually it won't be in the equip tab, so check others first.) You will be rewarded with either potions or a Rudolph's Red Nose with +1 random stat (any stat) Simon - Hanukkah Temple Guide (non repeatable) Talk to Simon to enter the Hanukkah Temple There is only one quest here from Hannah: She wants you to get 25 Altar Pieces. Altar Pieces are found from Axe Stumps, and ONLY Axe Stumps. (Dark axe stumps too!) The best map for this is Perion - East Rocky Mountain IV and V. Make sure to keep the Saps of Ancient Tree if they drop, you'll need them for the Bone Helm quest or Jane's quest. Your reward for getting 25 Altar pieces will be 2 Gelt Chocolates: (+120 att, +120 def, +30 acc, +10 speed for 10 minutes) Hannah's second quest is collecting 9 sabbath candles from Horny Mushrooms. (repeatable daily) ~ ~ This takes literally no time compared to the altar pieces, just farm in ant tunnel for them. For completing this quest you'll get a present! You can't open it. Talk to her again to open it. From the present you can get: Its hella not worth it imo but yeah. Thanks for reading my first shitty guide. Merry Christmas!

  11. I chose to write this because I am concerned about where we are headed past v52, the lack of clarification us players are given and finally, the constant lack of players. My intention with this topic is to hopefully encourage the staff for better communication, ask for a clearer roadmap for where we are headed in terms of game updates and to share my suggestions on how to attract more players to Phoenix. With my suggestions, I will share my vision for where Phoenix should be heading. Feel free to disagree. 1. Communication It's essential to have clear communication with a playerbase for the players to feel up-to-date, safe, but also cared for. For Phoenix, communication has always been lacking and especially lack of clarification on very important subjects that will make or break the server for players. "Are we eventually getting 4th job?" is one of those questions that has been memed into oblivion. For players like myself, the answer to this question is game defining. Other examples are, when things don't work as planned - which I will first praise you for, this rarely happens. But with the Leafre patch, we were required to download a second Phoenix.dll file. However, there were still players running the old one, which basically makes the game unplayable. These things need to be communicated better. Perhaps a reminder in #announcements on Discord or a news post just for this Phoenix.dll file would do wonders. An in-game notification or a Discord bot reminding players to update to the latest files, when such things happen could also be a solution to this. I know Arnah is just another memer, probably around our age and I appreciate how casual he is with the playerbase. But clarifying certain things would take the edge off of a lot of our concerns and/or issues and even new players joining Phoenix. This isn't a one man job and I don't know who else is staff, but if man power is an issue, perhaps there should be staff members for these things? 2. Phoenix Roadmap First of all, I realize that the about page is sort of a roadmap for Phoenix. But we need to know what the vision of Phoenix is. The about page states: "The goal of Phoenix is to provide a challenging 3rd job server with new content constantly releasing." I interpret this as the vision of Phoenix and I personally hope that this doesn't change. Again, with the lack of clarification regarding many of the questions we've asked, I have no idea what to expect anymore. I guess this section ties into first section a lot. 3. Playerbase growth and retention I have voiced some of these concerns and suggestions regarding this topic multiple times to Arnah directly. I'd like to share some of the things I have suggested. I will discuss several topics that indirectly affect the playerbase growth and player retention. - 3.1 Playerbase growth and retention: Catering to Casuals I firmly believe, if we ever want to see player numbers in the several hundreds, that changes should be made to cater to the casual players more. Advertising Phoenix as a vanilla 1x/1x/1x server is not a good thing for the server. It's really bad. Look at it from a casual player's perspective. There is no doubt in my mind, that those players instantly close down the window and look for other alternatives. Even though I personally love this kind of game, I can recognize and I realize that changes need to be made to attract more players. Also, I realize with patches, the game only gets easier. Unfortunately, there is a stigma around 1x/1x/1x rates and that will forever remain unchanged. "Vanilla MapleStory" simply just doesn't have enough appeal - especially as a private server. Part of catering to casual players could be carefully buffing content where casual players usually get stuck or lose drive to play. Things like KPQ, Levels 30-35, LPQ and OPQ. - 3.2 Playerbase growth and retention: Temporarily stop updating with vanilla Horntail (V52) and focus on finding solutions to underlying issues that plague the game Leeching Buff mules Powercreep Some of these have been taken too far, for far too long. Leeching should've never been a thing. Buff mules shouldn't have been a thing, but you don't want to take away the players' efforts leveling their characters. Buff mules singlehandedly discourage new people to play Phoenix. I have previously suggested multiple possible solutions for this, to not take away from the people buff muling and still encourage more party play. Powercreep is another thing slowly creeping into the game where previous content is almost entirely replaced with new content. These subjects deserve a forum thread of their own, so I guess I'll come back to this eventually. - 3.3 Playerbase growth and retention: Defining existing content, the state of Leafre & endgame content Once issues listed in 3.2 are dealt with, return to updating the game but time skip. There is no reason to add Nihal Desert and Magatia. "Alternate content" that Nexon released was never really alternate content, but "bloat" content that inevitably replaces old with new and makes the old content irrelevant. The best example of this is Mu Lung and Straw Target Dummies replacing everything from level 40-70. Or the most heartbreaking one for me personally, the Aqua patch almost making Ludibrium entirely useless. This is why, I'd personally love to see many alterations to the game. For the older content, for certain scrolls to be added, which could be exclusive to the mobs that are no longer being hunted. For the higher level content, it would be awesome with some custom stuff done for Leafre. I am speaking for all other classes, but my own. Hermits do just fine at Leafre already. Allowing other classes to grind there indirectly buffs hermits and that is enough. Because of the lack of NLC potions, lack of damage, etc., Leafre is simply unsustainable except for very few classes. Here is a personal anecdote. MapleEurope had Leafre with 3rd job only. The reason why it was working out just fine for us on EMS back in the day, is very obviously because we had NLC potions, not to mention Ciders from Showa. After observing how the Phoenix playerbase has been handling Leafre, I can tell that people already feel very discouraged to go there after getting their gear upgrades. I am not proposing to add NLC potions in regular fashion, but something has to be done to make Leafre a bit easier and sustainable. Here are a few ideas I have been discussing with players: Creating a custom Leafre exchange quest that rewards you with potions a lot (Untradeable NLC pots?) Reducing Mob HP and damage of deeper Leafre mobs (not EXP values because this would buff F/P) Additional scrolls that come with V56 Finally, when Leafre is in a better state and hopefully outscales Gobies, then would be the time to look towards more endgame content. A custom Temple of Time and Pink Bean that obviously should outscale Leafre. With this, you will have a fully defined and "complete" 3rd job server. - 3.4 Playerbase growth and retention: Conclusion That concludes my views on what could be done to keep players interested, as well as attract new players to play Phoenix. Attracting more players also deserves a thread on its own, because there is just so much that could be done. Because everything is sort of tied together and connected, it's hard to keep certain topics seperate. I did my best to stay on topic and focus on the main points, but there are so many angles at play. With that being said, feel free to discuss! Share your thoughts, opinions and disagree with me if you need to.

  12. I've come to realize that to get mount quest you have to be level 70 AND 3rd job which is a dumb requirement. Nexon probably made it that way because they didn't think any dumbasses would get a beginner to 70. Which makes sense but what's the harm in allowing any level 70 character the ability to get mount via quest? The requirement of being 3rd job is moot considering characters at level 120 can get silvermane even though it requires 4th job.

  13. Currently leeching still very much exists and this has been obvious forever. Just because it is not as effective as in some servers does not mean it doesn't exist. Further prevention of leeching is one of the changes out of a couple that I'm looking to add into Phoenix to improve the future. The plan is to introduce a timer which based on the % of damage dealt of a monster killed will determine the amount of seconds of "leech" you get. The amount of seconds per % of total damage dealt will be configurable per job but is currently at 1 seconds for every job except Beginners at 2 seconds, with a cap of 100 seconds. Current formula to determine the amount of seconds is below. ceil(damage / maxHp * 100) * JobMultiplier[jobCategory] If you do 50% of the mobs health you get 50 seconds of "leeching" The amount of seconds you get to leech is given to you on mob kill but before exp is handed out. Clerics & Priests have special handling for heal. Every heal that increases the HP of a party member, but not including yourself, will give 3 seconds of leech with a cap of 20 seconds. This is the same timer used for killing monsters. Healing while above this 20 second cap(From damaging mobs) will not increase the time until it drops below 20 seconds. Players determined afk by this system will not contribute to total member count for Holy Symbol and Party Exp Bonus but will count towards the parties total level which is used for party exp split. Bosses will increase the leech timer but ignore the active check and distribute exp normally. Lenient with 2 mobs being 100 seconds of leeching. Should be used to determine afk not lazy people but will need to be seen in a real world use case to determine if any values need tweaking.

The point I'm trying to make is, since there are so many nerfs, there should be more buffs to the weaker aspects (eg. Maps/Items) of the game. As majority of the time, buffs(no matter how small is it) to the weaker aspects has a more enjoyable/positive effect than nerfing the stronger ones. (I might be wrong on this one) Unless Arnah is currently pulling the good ol' nerfing the content/QOL so that buffs can come by easier in the future. So far I don't think majority of the community deem these makes it a more enjoyable experience. I'm also writing this knowing that Arnah doesn't really care about the community's experience, so.. I hope this serves as a better Perspective.

  15. I recently proposed a custom Leafre exchange quest: While I think this would be a great addition to the game and an interesting way to make Dragon Spirit and Dragon Scales more accessible, along with newer scrolls, it just wouldn't make up for the meso loss that any of the weaker classes would have to endure. Not unless the rewards are crazy - but we don't want that. The Leafre exchange is supposed to be a supplement, not a permanent solution. As the title states, I'm proposing that all mob damage should be decreased from and past Dragon Forest (blue side of Leafre). These maps simply have mobs that deal too much damage, which require you to use a potion for every single time you get hit, unless you have a huge HP/MP pool or have meso guard. Hyper Body definitely helps and allows you to take 2 hits without dying (usually), but not everybody has HB available. If this were to be done I suggest doing a -30% damage decrease on all mobs to start with and for this number to be adjusted accordingly from patch to patch until we find a sweet spot. Together with the Leafre exchange quest, I'm assuming that a -30% damage reduction would do all the weaker classes wonders. We don't want Leafre to become too easy, but as it is right now, it's simply unsustainable without NLC potions. Please discuss and share your opinions about this and hopefully we will get a Leafre that is viable to all of us soon. The server needs something like this for players to come back and play.

  17. i dont think pianus should have better weapon drop than it has currently because its the only boss when u dont lose when you die , you can just renter like nothing happened , and can do more than twice a day . i do think it can have some changes to it but in another sense than drops . maybe have a once a day repeatable quest which gives some rare scrolls like cape dex/luk/str/int 10% and oa luk/int 10% , and some elixirs / power elixirs so u can be unlucky as well. (basically like the bmm quest but for rare 10% scrolls ) with this i think it wont be as overpowered and a camped boss as if we were to add the good lvl 90 weapons as drops , but it would still be done every once in a while and encouraging to do with a party exactly like the bmm quest .

  18. "You gain an unfair advantage from it..." - Everyone can do it "You are using a 3rd party software to get around a game restriction to gain an advantage." -You could just use 2 PCs like people did in GMS. This does violate any rules. Again, everyone has the opportunity to do this. Just say you don't want multiclient. Don't try to incorrectly use rules to make your point. "If you want HB then you need to party with a spearman, if you need HS you need to party with a priest." - There are not enough players at end game to make this feasible. If this was a server with even 500 players, then there would not be a need for buff mules. Most people using buff mules are supplementing the lack of actual players. I'm sure everyone at end game would rather have actual players to play with rather than using a buff mules. I'd also like to add that most people commenting so far are not deep enough into the game to fully understand the concept of playing without buff mules. The game was balanced around having skills like HB and HS in the game, and the population of GMS made sure that those skills were always available. In addition, there will be impacts on the economy. There will certainly be much less 10% scrolls available due to lack of croggers, and probably 60%s due to people not making mules to LPQ with. LPQ/KPQ will also suffer because you won't have as many people making alts; most PQs have at least 1-2 mules in them. Everyone is arguing that buff mules make the game easier, but I would argue that it makes the game playable. This server simply does not have the population to sustain itself without buff mules.

  20. I think it would be best to compensate players for the recent rollback incident by giving people short EXP coupons that they get to decide when to use, instead of a live 1.5x event which will turn into a shitfest. Last time EXP coupons were given to players, was for returning players who hadn't played for a long period, I think around November/December. By compensating players in this fashion, players also won't have to deal with FEAR OF MISSING OUT. Players can choose to take out their EXP coupon out of Cash Shop whenever they like, to activate it. If this requires a postponing of the compensation, I am personally completely fine with that.

  23. The 24 hour cooldown for exchanging badges is unnecessary, especially since it takes so long to get them. I feel like it should be in line with other exchange quests. Its a QOL change that doesn't affect gameplay at all but makes farming/stacking badges way better and feel more rewarding.

  25. With the introduction of a Buff in Party Bonus EXP (from 4 party members and more), some PQs should naturally align with this buff and have their EXP per round completion adjusted (competitive rates). Reason why I mentioned some PQs and not all is because we must first take precedent the existing training maps alternatives that we have. Not all alternatives will be presented here as PQs do not only require the effort to organise a 4 to 6 man party but as well as different variations of classes required, hence alternative training maps discussed will solely be fit for the majority of classes that train at those locations and a few potential large sized maps. Below shows an example for illustrative purposes of how the existing PQs EPH (exp per hour) could possibly take form: *excluded monster exp for a clean minimum exp calculation *excluded kpq stg - 1 hs party grind only *note kpq reqs a min of 4 to start a party and 3 to complete (considering using 1 mule to enter and log off) *note lpq reqs a min of 6 to start a party and 5 to complete (considering using 1 mule to enter and log off) *note opq reqs a min of 6 to start a party and 5 to complete (considering using 1 mule to enter and log off) *note, there is no possible way to have Holy Symbol buff throughout the whole duration of a PQ. *note opq has a quest that awards 10,000 exp if able to complete the PQ within 25mins. Alternative Training maps before Buff in Party Bonus Exp: (EPH: Solo/ Duo/ Trio/ Quad, lvl 70 cap on players/ skills) Ant Tunnel 1: lvl 21+ (80k/-/-/- eph) 94th: lvl 30+ (90k/-/-/- eph) Jr. Lioner/ Grupin/ Cellion: lvl 30+ (80k/-/-/- eph) Brown/Pink Teddy: lvl 30+ (70k/-/-/- eph) STD: lvl 40+ (250k/ 400k/-/- eph) Coolies: lvl 52+ (250k/ 520k/ 600k/ 610k eph) FOG: lvl 54+ (250k/ 350k/ 400k/ 420k eph) others: Disposed garden, Jr yeti, Hector *keep in mind the valuable drops from each monster. Even before any Buff in Party Bonus Exp, PQs are already at the losing end in terms of EXP. With the rewards PQs give upon successful completion and the unfavourable chances/ rarity to get worthy items, pushes some players to training maps and PQs content go stale. Suggestion: To increase KPQ and OPQ overall exp rates by 1.5x (up for discussion) the current rates, dedicating majority of exp towards the last stage of the PQ to avoid Rush PQs and incentivize actual completion of PQ. (excluded LPQ due to itโ€™s time n rewards being relatively fine imo, but a buff is always welcomed especially when u compare the eph/meso at STD, players literally grind here from lv43+ till 3rd job.) With consideration of the risks involved in the time factor of waiting for required party members and classes/ the uncompletion of PQ (members DC/ Death(s))/ no means of boosting exp through Holy Symbol buff and the Bonus stage reward RNG. Additionally, with higher lvls, players within the OPQ range of lvl 51-70 have more training maps open as alternatives with higher levelled 2nd job skills, such as coolies and FOG that offers exceptional EPH rates. Also, with the buff in party bonus exp, we could possibly be thinning (disincentivizing opq) the players within OPQ range as larger sized maps such as Hectors, Jr Yetis are in fact an attractive exp and drop alternatives by itself. By comparison, even if players were to manage to received a random quest available to accept from opq npc, the furthest an 1.5x buff to OPQ could push the EPH to would be within the 400k (270k before buff) eph range for an at least 5 man party size. We could buff the % chance rate on the rare items but by how much would it even be worth in players perspective, and also considering the RNG factor involved. I believe PQs are in fact a gamble/ opportunity costs weigh off with the rewards but the EXP involved should not be at an exceptional low range whereby it discourages party quests. By incentivizing the exp aspect, even with bad RNG, players would still feel motivated in this content and this indirectly increases the chances of more scrolls and items in the general market.

  27. Hello! New player here, I joined this server roughly a week ago and have been playing a few hours consistently these past few days. The forum seems kind of inactive so I thought I'd post a bit of something here lol. The main purpose of this thread is to document the journey of my Ironman mage xMagus for fun as you can tell from the title. I've also been streaming my playthrough the past few days on youtube and recently on twitch, (no commentary though since I don't have a mic and conditions aren't fit for voice recording.) mainly to gather footage of my progress I can screenshot later. Do note that this is not a guide, the methods shown will have imperfections and is by no means meant to be a correct how-to. On top of running on Ironman mode, xMagus is also running on 0.5% EXP. Overview Well enough about that, the goal for xMagus is simple, to equip this with ideally 48 Base LUK. "But why bother, just go LUKless instead that's the meta." True, but pursuing meta purely for meta's sake isn't a concept that's particularly fascinating to me, if anything I find it dull and boring to only fixate on meta for the height of end-game and little else. This is a matter of preference, and if that is a journey you find most fulfilling, that's perfectly valid too, it's just not the experience I'm looking to build while playing Maplestory specifically, I find my calling in other aspects of this game. And of course the other reason that's more common; I like how it looks on characters. "Why specifically this version of the eq?" "Dark" equipments typically are not sold by NPCs (with the exception of Fitted Mail, it's the silver version that isn't sold), and only drop from monsters, making them kind of a rare or unique item though not quite comparable to items like pan lid in terms of rarity. (Also not all armors with 'dark' in its name qualify for this e.g Engrits and Hunter's top/bottom) They also usually come with slightly better stats than their not-dark counterparts. It's just something extra edgy players could get to stand out from others or get an extra boost from the stats. You could even consider it a fun trophy item because some of them require 20 Fame to equip, because it's...extra edgy. I just think it would be a fun goal to aim for and also it looks good. Note that the not-sold-by-NPCs aspect only applies for equipment that are Lv. 35. (some incl. 30 and 38) after which higher level equipment will only be obtainable from mobs (or crafting) still doesn't make it any less edgy though. For most of my journey, I'm going to work towards getting LUK from equipment as part of my progression this will also go into xMagus equipping higher levelled weapons along the way until I reach my goal. Once I've achieved my goal of equipping the Dark Bazura, I will then work towards scrolling it and maybe embarking on the journey of Dragon Weapon crafting and seeing how far I can go in scrolling those items. Some of you might already be thinking that this is too unrealistic and non-feasible of a goal, and that I'll just be spending most of my time farming. Which, that's the whole point of my journey lol. It's what I'm in this server for. I'm letting this journey run for as long as it takes to see how far I can go. I mentioned that I'm planning on equipping the OA with ideally 48 Base LUK, depending on how things go I might have to pump in a few extra values as a last resort but it's something I'll be saving late game for end-game equipment. Obviously this item according to the HS database so far, only drops from mobs that haven't been released in Phoenix yet, Arnah seems to have plans on releasing ToT sometime in the future so there's hope at least that I'll be able to go against Lilynouch for the drop. I think that's enough for the first post in this thread, in the next post I'll be sharing my progress on xMagus thus far. Btw, does anyone know how I can put things under spoiler tags in a post? The BB code doesn't seem to work here and there's going to be a lot of stuff I'll have to put under a cut. The Journey So Far #1 Beginnings Humble beginnings nothing too exciting with the noob process. Made my character, rolled my desired stats and went clearing the tutorial on Maple Island for starters. Went with a wooden club for the extra att, I need all the help I can get trying to hit things as a mage to be. It was nice to see New Life being added after the v54 update, those sporty caps are emblematic of the old maple experience, got it in blue too, perfect for xMagus. I wasnโ€™t very lucky with Lucasโ€™s quest and got plain work gloves but I wasnโ€™t betting too much on that and converted it into extra mesos lol. Off to Victoria Island to start my first job and did Olafโ€™s and all of the training quests given by Grendel for some free pots and return scrolls. In between, upon reaching level 10 I also finished Wingโ€™s homework, entertained Icarus and reunited Bruce and Ayan for some extra pots and mesos. And helped Claudia with her hair gel only for her to give me a bowl cut. At this point Iโ€™m pumping all my AP into INT until I reach level 25 where I will then start pumping into LUK entirely until I stop at 48. I travelled entirely by foot from Ellinia โ†’ Perion โ†’ Kerning and Ellinia โ†’ Henesys to save on mesos for later, having extra pots from the quests came in handy to tie me through the levels for a bit. At this point xMagus had reached level 12, the next step was to train till level 15 to activate the next set of quests. The Journey So Far #2 Level 15 things I hopped over to Mushroom Forest in Mushroom Shrine to grind on Orange and Green mushrooms from level 12-14. It costed me 3k to get to which could be too much at early levels when I could train at other maps but I saw it as an investment I can earn back later anyways, thereโ€™s a nice ratio of Orange and Green mushrooms that I can switch around between mobs I can hit (Orange Mushroom) and mobs I can kind of hit but give extra EXP (Green Mushrooms). Itโ€™s also a map I had many fond memories of training at, and the atmosphere and music of the place just makes for a more relaxing grind. After using up all my mana pots at Level 14, I moved back to Vic (because Zipangu pots are just out of my budget range at this stage) and upgraded to the Green Mushroom infested Tree Dungeons until I finally hit level 15. I didnโ€™t add any SP to Magic Guard at this point, mostly on MP recovery and a few into Magic Claw while I rely on potting efficiently and pulling out the relaxer in safe spots. Had to be careful not to overuse my blue pots since I canโ€™t afford purchasing them in bulk at the moment, Energy Bolt has been a trusty friend throughout the grind hitting fairly well even at 1 SP and it only consumes 6 MP. Timing the MP recovery rate to plan the number of hits in while manoeuvering xMagus cleverly to a safe distance helps a lot with tight resources. Potting at 50% and double potting becomes a reflex you gotta unlearn for a bit at times like this lmao. I could only afford 50 blue pots for each 20% EXP I hit with the mesos I have (roughly 90% of all the mesos I had) but thatโ€™s not too big of a deal since I earn back enough from the grind and drops to break even each time. Mesos will accumulate along the way, so having just enough to afford pots to allow me to keep hitting is good enough for now. For HP, the relaxer works well enough for me. The lower level Tree Dungeons are bound to contain pesky slimes jumping about and knocking you off platforms or dealing damage, on top of the caveat of how these layered platforms could obstruct casting/firing pathways. At least thatโ€™s where Magic Claw comes in handy, it costs a little more MP but helpful for mobs blocking the way in finicky corners. Of course once upon hitting level 15, first thing I did was to accept the newly available quests from the NPCs around Vic. Circling from Ellinia to Perion on foot where I camped for a bit to help Blackbull fix his house for that shield that I can convert into mesos. Sorry Blackbull ๐Ÿ˜ž Then itโ€™s off to Kerning to start on Nellaโ€™s chain quest of community service. Itโ€™s a long process but the rewards come in pretty handy for lower levels. I canโ€™t hit Bubblings very well at this level, so Iโ€™m saving it for later. Heading over to Lith to help John get his anniversary present for his wife, putting me right on the path to Sleepywood to find that sign board in the dingy forest with the daunting task of exterminating 99 Green Mushrooms, and stopping by Henesys on the way to help Maya get her meds. And help Luke get ingredients for his spooky smoothie. Jump quest was a piece of cake, I remember back when doing this for the first time brought me pain but not anymore! Iโ€™ll be needing these later. And then itโ€™s back down here again to exterminate 199 Green Mushrooms for Arwen and the Rememberer. I needed the EXP that comes out of these fellas anyways so itโ€™s all good. *There was something weird here where I couldnโ€™t tell if it was a server bug or feature of v54 where my 99 kills for the Remembererโ€™s quest did not register or carry over to Arwenโ€™s, (had to kill 100 Green Mushrooms for that one). It started registering after I pulled up the quest helper for Arwenโ€™s quest after Iโ€™m done with the Remembererโ€™s. I canโ€™t tell if it had to do with the quest being completed first or me pulling up the helper later, did anyone else have this problem? Lol.* Either way, the extra 100 kills gave me more EXP and got me to level 16 upon completion! Switched to Forest of Wisdom for a change of environment. It was tedious but the rewards give me what I need. Well thatโ€™s it for this entry. Thereโ€™s still a bit more to cover which Iโ€™ll get to in the next posts. The Journey So Far #3 Community Service and Bubbles So thatโ€™s pretty much half of the Lv. 15 quests completed, at this point Iโ€™m working on focusing on Nellaโ€™s quests but I still canโ€™t really hit Bubblings well and they are a beast to deal with for low levels. Instead, I worked on farming what Nella will ask for later. Hunting Octopus at Kerning Construction Site, bittersweet times. During this time, I wasnโ€™t aware that the construction site on the right, had better spawn for Octopus and spent a good half of my time just scavenging and channel switching while dealing with the abysmal drop rate of Octopus legs. I managed to get enough tree branches I needed from the Stumps in the area which Iโ€™ll also be needing for Nellaโ€™s later request though. In the end I headed over to the other construction site, thankfully. And things sped up a little, the spawn and drop were slightly better. And I got all 120 Octopus Legs, some of which Iโ€™ll be needing for Mayaโ€™s quest later. And levelled up to 17 just in time! After that, itโ€™s time to face the Bubblings. I managed to get some hits in but I still missed a few times and these things move fast, itโ€™s hard to manoeuver on the same platform unless Iโ€™m taking them down one to one with enough space to move about. They hit pretty hard too sob. There isnโ€™t much area I can effectively jump over without getting hit one way or another, but I make do with what I can. Unfortunately overconfidence got the better of me and xMagus experienced her first death. And another one. I was able to finish the deed fairly quickly enough. And got some sweet MP pots just as I was pretty much out of pots lol. And on to the next line of quests in this chain. (These 2 quests aren't happening at the same time, I'm just laying out screenshots.) The rest is pretty much a breeze since Iโ€™ve already collected the stuff beforehand. All I had to do was to travel to Florina Beach with the help of a return scroll on the way to get Pure Water and have JM turn tree branches into Processed Wood. At this point Nella doesnโ€™t have anymore new requests until I hit a higher level. So Iโ€™m off to Ellinia to farm some slime bubbles for a future quest and mesos. Given that itโ€™s the one ETC. that NPCs for the most mesos for Vic monsters under level 30. While trying to get xMagus to level 20. Also took out some Dark Stumps while Iโ€™m at it to get 50 Leaves for Mayaโ€™s quest. I made it my goal to farm 100 Slime Bubbles but while the spawn is great, the drop rate for the slime bubbles in the tree dungeon was very infrequent with only 5ish bubbles for every slot I max with Squishy Liquids. Iโ€™m making more mesos than I did though, furthermore I didnโ€™t have to replenish on pots since Iโ€™ve got plenty from Nellaโ€™s quests, not to mention slimes arenโ€™t a threat to me at this level. Reached Lv. 18! It got tedious crossing the maps back and forth and I didnโ€™t have time to spend any longer waiting for the bubbles to drop in the tree dungeon so I just hopped on to the Forest North of Ellinia to finish up the farming there. For some reason drop rate is much better and getting slimes to spawn right back up is no problem and finally got 100 bubbles soon enough. And hooray for over 50k mesos! Well thatโ€™s where my journeyโ€™s at so far, next Iโ€™ll be getting xMagus up to Lv.20 and finish up Mayaโ€™s quest before moving on to Luke and then onto the Lv.20 quests that are available.

  28. Leafre has been out for almost 2 months now and while people have been trying to make things work, I think it's safe to conclude that the Dragon Forest of Leafre is simply unsustainable for all classes, with the exception of F/P Magicians and Hermits. While Chief Bandits can definitely hold their ground, seemingly losing the least meso out of all melee classes, it is still just too harsh, especially considering the very minimal increase of EXP compared to places like Gobies. I'd like to mention NLC potions real quick - if these were in the game, Leafre would've been just fine, most likely for all classes across the board. However, they are simply too good and should be kept out of the game. Because we don't have the NLC potions available to us, I would like to propose a custom Leafre exchange quest. Similarly to how the Orbis exchange quest works, you turn in a 100 ETC from a mob and you gain some rewards. It's very important to mention that the exchange quest can not reward a player with EXP, because it would be very abusable, unless there was a level requirement added to the exchange quest. All mobs on the side of Dragon Nest should be included in this exchange quest and game design wise, it would perfectly mirror the Leafre forest exchange quest that players do for reducing the costs of Magic Seeds. Chief Tatamo is the most obvious NPC to use for this exchange. It could look a little something like this: You turn in: x 100 Old Neck Bone which drop from Skelosaurus In return, you can get one of these rewards: x 18-24 Melting Cheese x 12-18 Reindeer Milk x 34-40 Ice Cream Pop x 18-26 Pure Water x 54-60 Unagi x 12-20 Honster (NLC potion, low rate) x 8-16 Ginseng Root (NLC potion, low rate) x 15-23 Sorcerer Elixir x1 Scroll for Topwear for STR/LUK (should be added to the exchange when the scroll exists in the files, which should be version 56. Super low rate, similarly to Orbis Exchange) x1 Dragon Spirit (Super low rate) x1 Dragon Scale (Super low rate) + More "garbage items" could be added that so you don't always get useful stuff. I'd like to end by saying I did not spend my time calculating all these items in terms of value. I just eye-balled it and tried to visualize and explain the concept. It can be done entirely differently and the reward pool could be completely different from what I am proposing. Please discuss!

  29. Wouldn't really make F/Ps in general "RICH" It would make it easier to sustain/even profit (with decent RNG on equips) for sure. I don't currently sustain, to even think this is foolish. Sure, I haven't been losing as much as a warrior and the reasons for this are very obvious. Warriors would lose more than me training virtually anywhere. Teleporting through monsters, sealing and just the large mana pool I possess with a hyper body mule + only training using elixirs just puts me at a huge advantage. I still lose a decent amount of mesos despite all this. I went into leafre with a large amount of mesos 2nd only to MrKrabs and I have basically finished my gear so I don't care about losing mesos, anyway. If this suggestion helps others (don't think it'll do that much but it's something) then I support it. I also support a deep ludi exchange because ludi is in need of some love. This isn't really relevant of the topic but using me as an example for the class F/P is stupid. I have taken advantage of so many things since I started playing, advantages other F/Ps will never have. Good luck to any upcoming F/Ps (if there are any) who try to mirror what I've accomplished.

  30. I don't think I'd quit, but it would take away a lot of the unique challenge potential for the server. I just think it would be more interesting to try to tailor the future game content around 3rd job capabilities. There's nothing written anywhere that says you have to be able to get strong enough to 1-2 shot every enemy. As long as the rewards are appropriate, I would love if the tougher enemies made it in and were barely able to be taken down by 3rd job characters.

  31. I think the old coolies maps without the coolies spawning on other plats and timer are one of the main things everyone thinks of when they think of old school maplestory. most people are probably disappointed when they get to coolies and see the weird maps with the timer and plats. the reason the timer was added in the first place in GMS was to stop botters, which isn't a huge issue here like it was on GMS, as people trying to bot at coolies would be obvious and most likely be banned pretty quickly. since the current coolies maps are worse than other maps available in the game now, I think it would be a good idea to change the current coolies maps to the old coolies maps to make them more viable and aligned with the old school feel. even though I hate flat maps and think they're boring and brain dead, that matches the feeling of coolies with the dark map and slow zombies, so it isn't just a generic flat map with monsters that give tons of exp for no reason or thought put into it. also, they aren't completely flat and have hazards that stun you at least, so I think an exception should be made for coolies especially since it's the original maps. - makes it more old school - the old maps put coolies on par with currently available maps (fog, wraiths) - timer isn't necessary for this server and is jarring - simplicity of the maps are acceptable since they aren't completely flat, have stuns that keep the maps unique to other maps, matches the feel of the area, and the maps are out of the way (have to climb up cliff maps a long way or use a dead mine scroll to get there) - creates more reason to buy/sell dead mine scrolls - isn't nerfing something that was available before so it helps newer players instead of setting them back - gives more motivation for people to go cleric or sin (especially sin because they'll have a spot like fog for warriors and wraiths for cleric)

  32. There's a fine line between normal gameplay and abuse, I think that it's fine to allow multiclienting, yet we shouldn't allow it without moderation. There have been reports of people clogging up LPQ with mules, camping popular farming spots and bosses, and in general taking advantage of a large number of number of mules logged in at the same time. I think that the limit to simultaneous mules should be 3. Enough to prevent people from going solo KPQ, but still letting people use HB mules, store mule, and easy transferring of items between mules. I hope this feature could be easily implemented as i think it would let newer players progress easier when they don't need to compete for popular farming spots, get into kpq easier, and farm bosses more frequently. What are you thoughts? Thanks for reading

  39. Red Musketeer Cape Level requirement: Change from 95 to 100 HP: 300 (added) W.Def: 78 buffed from 39 w.def M.Def: 88 buffed from 44 m.def 5 upgradeable slots (unchanged) Obtainable from: Pianus drop x3 or repeatable daily quest Should exist as a defensive item. Originally obtainable from the quest โ€œCarta the Sea Witchโ€ (Level 90 and above) according to bbb. The Ludibrium Cape works as a small damage boost, while the Red Musketeer should exist as an alternate cape, to allow squishy classes to survive at places that are currently too difficult to survive, unless you reach an unbelievably high level. As an example, if a Priest were to survive Skelosaurus(Lv. 113, leech Lv. 108) with Hyper Body active, they would need 2172 HP (tested on Tespia), which they currently reach around late level 140s. Magicians gain +8 HP/level on average. With this cape, Magicians would be able to survive Skelosaurus, at a much more reasonable level. Roughly level 108-113, depending on RNG. This would also help Magicians in other instances, but without going in depth: Grim Phantom Watches Dreamy Ghosts (Himes) If you disagree, feel free to share your opinion and we can discuss. If you agree, let me know why you agree instead of just posting +1.

  40. Diamond dagger isnt obtainable till ninja castle How the fuck are yellow snowshoes powercreep? You get 3-4 dex or 3-4 int out of it and it only drops from a difficult, endgame boss. People also dont go for shoes past lv90 ever anyway. You could argue the 7 slots is powercreep but again, its only obtainable at the endgame, if people want to upgrade their shoes by the time they can kill anego why not let them? Gives people more reason to kill anego aside from the meh exp(unless you wanna host Big Boss squad runs). Black umbrella only helps priests cause it is a one-handed sword Plastic bottle is a slightly worse maple wagner, and fan requires a bunch of str put in and/or str gear Paintbrush is a jump in-between wooden wand and yellow umbrella Liu bei is actually op, but it has a 1/100k drop on bms(pretty sure thats what arnah's using) from 1 mob in 2-3 maps that doesnt have a lot of that 1 mob (Extra A). its not even worth going out of your way to farm, you'll probably just get so many plastic bottles you can scroll a good plastic bottle Bathrobes give pl0x just as long as it hav 10 slots

  41. My reasoning for wanting this is just because mine expired today and I have no vote cash to make another. It'll probably take more than 1 try to get my 10 speed as well. I could just level a haste mule but using another client ResidentSleeper Maybe like 500k for 5 slot, 750k for 7 slot?

  44. I like how as soon as Leafre drops F/P mage is a "problem". However the nearly 2 years of DK dominance was barely even mentioned. Yes, it will be broken in the future if the server remains third job (will be in quite a few updates) and releases even further content but as of Leafre the EXP difference is basically the same as DK vs F/P in favor of the DK pre-Leafre. That's just the unbalanced game we play, though. I think even with say a 30% damage decrease on monsters it will still be quite the pot burn for warriors, which still won't make it worth it to them..

  45. I suggested this back in nov 2020: +1 You could have Eurek the Alchemist turn your regular items into cosmetics for a fee, stripping away all stats and the stat requirements to wear the equipment. But to make sure things don't end up being dumb, keep the class requirement so warrior wear warrior gear, thieves wear thief gear etc. Eurek could charge 1M per item making it into a small meso sink. The fee could even be scaled up depending on what level the item is. You could even turn it into a crafting system. If I want a Dark Pilfer as a cosmetic, Eurek could ask for: x1 Dark Pilfer x20 Leather 2,000,000 Mesos But creating a crafting system around it is probably too much work so maybe Eurek just asking for a fee is best.

  47. This is the .json file of the drop rates of osm. I'll also include it in a notepad version, you need to divide the chance by 1,000,000,000. If anyone wants to use this to make some type of library for phoenix go ahead, keep in mind osm had a 2x scroll drop rate. So if there are scrolls for 3/50k you knew from osm they are 3/100k here. Enjoy.. drops.json osm drop table.txt

  48. Sure, why not? I did/am. Some will probably argue that for long term potential, a cleric first to raise funds would be better. But if you just want to start playing the server, and you've always mained a sin, I don't see a problem.
